Increasing production of ready-to-eat fresh herbs and salads at Granja Mallorca

As in the previous two years, KRONEN Nahrungsmitteltechnik GmbH achieved an increase in sales for the 2019 financial year compared to the previous year. With its established sales partner network, KRONEN again expanded its international success and delivered machines and processing systems to customers worldwide. And with the integration of the turning and milling parts manufacturer WS Edelstahltechnik as a KRONEN division on April 1, 2020, KRONEN is well positioned for the further success of the company with an expanded vertical range of manufacture.

Recently, an international large-scale project reached an important milestone on its way to a successful implementation when numerous tests were carried out in the KRONEN manufacturing plant in Germany. A complete processing line, designated for Argentina´s biggest supermarket chain COTO C.I.C.S.A., was set up before its shipment overseas.

At FRUIT LOGISTICA 2020, numerous visitors experienced the processing quality of the extensive machine portfolio live at the KRONEN GmbH Lebensmitteltechnik stand from February 5th to 7th in Berlin. Visitors were also able to see the novelties, such as the DECONWA prep washing machine for improved hygiene in the production process, the sustainable packaging machine GKS LEAF and the redesigned KS-7 ECO salad spin-dryer. The KRONEN SMART team of experts also presented a synchronized production line as part of the further development of SMART machines.

Company Erhardt GmbH & Co. KG produces condiments like ajvar, harissa and horseradish of organic and “Demeter” quality in Urloffen. Since July, a KRONEN GS 10-2 belt cutting machine is used to process different vegetables. In line with sustainability, the machine´s transport route has been only a few kilometers long.

During two years of project duration, the three partners consisting of the Spanish company CITROSOL S.A. and the CNTA (National Centre for Food Technology and Safety) as well as German food machinery manufacturer KRONEN GmbH developed an innovative solution for the prevention of cross-contamination and reduction of water and energy consumption in the wash process of fruit and vegetables.

In the Swiss village of Eggenwil, fresh fruits and vegetables are packed by an extraordinary packaging machine - a GKS CP 350 PLUS with the serial number 1000. On this occasion, KRONEN managing director Stephan Zillgith attended the commissioning of the machine and presented managing director of Guggisberg AGRO AG, Paul Guggisberg, and David Freund of SEDA-FREUND AG, the official KRONEN representation in Switzerland, with the GKS award for the machine with the four-digit serial number.

Recently, a processing line for the production of ready to eat salads was put into operation at Verdeagua, a salad producer based in Montevideo in Uruguay. The delicate products are delivered to supermarkets and gourmet restaurants, where a high quality standard is ensured. The machines of the processing line were supplied by KRONEN after the Verdeagua team visited a KRONEN customer in Germany to get an impression of how to implement a professional salad processing line.

The Dutch fruit and vegetable wholesaler Postuma AGF has newly opened a modern company building together with an entire processing kitchen for vegetables in the beginning of this year. With this, the family business can provide a diversity of high quality fresh produce in-house, which opens many opportunities for the future. The equipment was delivered by Synergy Systems, the official distributor of the food processing technology provider KRONEN in the Netherlands.

Food processing technology manufacturer KRONEN premiered its new “SMART Machines” at Fruit Logistica 2019 in Berlin from 6 to 8 February 2019. They were shown live and in function and KRONEN visitors experienced how “Industry 4.0” applications can work in Fresh-cut production. Further world premieres were on show as well: The thermal washing process DECONWA, which is the result of a research project, and the newly developed apple peeling and slicing machine AS 6.

KRONEN presents innovations for the Fresh-cut sector

KRONEN displays its new “SMART Machines” and shows what Industry 4.0 can look like in the Fresh-cut sector, all on show at Fruit Logistica 2019 in Berlin from 6 to 8 February. Besides, an innovative thermal washing process will be introduced. It is the result of a research project, allows gentle disinfection without any additives and increases shelf-life.
