Impressive performance by the DEW 200 dewatering press when processing blanched spinach for airline meals

The KRONEN DEW 200 dewatering press recently demonstrated its impressive performance when processing blanched spinach for the production of airline meals. The aim: to reliably remove excess water and establish the basis for efficient further processing.

Efficient dewatering of blanched spinach

In the test, deep-frozen blanched spinach was defrosted then processed at a product temperature of around 80 °C. In each batch, 150 kg of spinach was dewatered within 60 seconds using the DEW 200 and eight pressure plates. The product was then ready for further processing as an ingredient for airline meals.
Designed for a net performance of around 1,500 kg of final product per hour with a cycle time of approximately five minutes – including filling, dewatering, and discharging – the dewatering press is ideal for applications with high demands in terms of process reliability and efficiency.

Reliable solutions for catering and convenience applications

This successful application shows that the DEW 200 is a reliable solution for dewatering blanched, pickled, or defrosted products. In the production of convenience products and catering meals in particular, the controlled reduction of the water content supports a consistent product quality and efficient downstream processes.
KRONEN machines and processing lines are used for mass catering applications worldwide, for example on cruise ships, in large-scale kitchens, and for airline catering. Here, they support hygienic, safe, and efficient food processing for the daily preparation of large quantities of meals.
