This shade-loving vegetable is not only healthy but also much more versatile than people may think: chicory can be served as a salad, sautéed as a side dish, coated in cheese and baked in the oven, or enjoyed as individual leaves with a variety of fillings. It also offers plenty of healthy nutrients and is therefore now available all year round.
Given that chicory is suitable for longer-term storage, chicory providers process the vegetable throughout the entire year. When processing chicory, a clean cutting result when removing the root, a fast, ergonomic, and safe processing procedure, and easy machine cleaning all play an important role. In line with these requirements, the CRC200 chicory root cutter was developed especially for the automated processing of chicory. The CRC200 is specifically adapted to the shape of chicory to ensure efficient and clean removal of the root so that the good product and root can be separated and discharged from the machine in the same step before the chicory is packaged.
With a capacity of up to 80 pieces per minute, the CRC200 achieves efficient chicory processing with optimal cutting quality. What’s more, the cutting machine is designed to facilitate ergonomic and safe operation and can also be easily and thoroughly cleaned thanks to the hood cover providing access to its interior.
The solution can additionally be adapted and used for other products on request, such as carrots and zucchini. On top of all this, the chicory processing solution is also available with options such as a downstream outfeed belt and a cleaning table.
