Foodlink, a food bank in New York State, produces over 5,000 healthy meals a day to feed those in need in the Rochester community, and also supplies schools and day cares, and their own Community Café.

Innovative washing technology for salad leaves, herbs and leafy vegetables

GEWA AF and GEWA XL: for the gentle and economical washing of large quantities:

With the GEWA AF and the GEWA XL, KRONEN is bringing two high-performance washing machines and new hygiene standards to the market. The newly developed GEWA AF pre-washing machine uses a new and unique “Active Flume” washing system. It was specially developed to wash floating, leafy products, to submerge light, delicate products without mechanical stress, and to handle production peaks.

Product of the month June: Baby Leaf Lettuce

Baby leaf lettuce is a flavorsome and particularly delicate alternative to conventional salad leaves. It comes in many different varieties and is therefore ideal for freshening up a salad mix with leaves in various shapes and sizes. Unlike heads of lettuce, preparing baby leaf lettuce for processing involves less work because the leaves do not have to be separated first. That said, the sensitive leaves of baby leaf lettuce have a low bulk density and therefore place high demands on the processing procedure.

"For Kronen GmbH, April was dominated by the two trade fairs Fruit Logistica and Anuga Foodtec. A few weeks after the last fair, they are taking stock. "We are delighted to finally be back in personal contact with the industry after such a long break of events. It was clear that both exhibitions would attract even fewer visitors, but we are satisfied with our presentation and the contacts we were able to make," said the spokesman for the Kronen Board of Directors Stephan Zillgith. “The innovative salad processing line in the virtual showroom attracted particular interest, as did the Convenience Avocado Line, which we demonstrated for the first time at a trade show, and proven Kronen classics such as the GS 10-2 belt cutting machine.”

Celebrating the premiere of the DEW 200 dewatering press:

The IFFA 2022 will mark the premiere of the DEW 200 dewatering press, which is somewhat delayed due to the postponement of the event as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The press was actually developed in cooperation with a sausage manufacturer back in 2020. It facilitates the quick and gentle removal of excess liquid from canned, pickled or defrosted vegetables, thus helping to avoid long draining times.

"Kronen showcased numerous new and existing produce processing lines at Fruit Logistica 2022 in Berlin in early April. Although attendee numbers were “noticeably lower than previous years,” Kronen was satisfied with its participation in the show, the company announced through a press release.

Visitors to its stand were particularly interested in innovations such as its fully automated, networked salad processing line, which was presented in the virtual showroom, and the live demonstration of the Convenience Avocado Line."
